Overview

This book is an examination of the mystery of God’s love. It looks at history, poetry and art through the ages to the present. The Sacred Heart is posed as one of the crucial symbols of the Church through the mid twentieth century became a porthole where seekers caught the glimpse of a Divine mystery.

Wendy M. Wright is professor of theology at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska. She is past president of the Society for the Study of Christian Spirituality, and the author of several books, including Francis de Sales, and co-author of Francis de Sales and Jane de Chantal: Letters of Spiritual Direction in the Classics of Western Spirituality series.
