A PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift, we thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed upon us during the last year.
We acknowledge your goodness to our families, friends, and neighbors. Bless them richly in the year to come.
We thank you for the steadfastness of those in every generation who have struggled to keep pure our nation’s ideals of equal opportunity and who have held to fast to the virtue of mutual help in times of prosperity and adversity. May their example inspire us to be faithful to our nation’s founding purpose and strengthen us to face the test of freedom in our time.
On this Thanksgiving Day help us, Lord, to more deeply learn the enduring truth that selfishness and greed can never bring lasting happiness. May our thankfulness to you always be joined with generosity to our neighbor.
Lord, in your goodness hear and answer our prayer.
