Fall 2024 Catalog
Dear Friends,
Our list this Fall includes a number of new works on familiar and vital themes, including racial justice, care for the earth, interreligious dialogue, cosmology, and ethics. We are pleased to have this season a number of new works by bestselling women writers, including "spiritual midwife" Joyce Rupp on elder spirituality (p.5), storyteller and biblical scholar Megan McKenna on forgiveness (p.4), and from the late Mary Lou Kownacki, OSB, a collection from her popular blog, "From an Old Monk's Journal" (p.7).
In The Story of the Noosphere, Brian Thomas Swimme-who collaborated with the great Thomas Berry on The Universe Story offers a stunning view of cosmology and the potential for a new unifying consciousness. And on its twenty-fifth anniversary of publication, Brian Brown builds on Berry's classic, The Great Work, in Earth's Journey into Hope. Libby Osgood's Green Saints for a Green Generation brings together a group of young religious and lay women who offer their own reflections on figures from the desert mothers to the martyrs of the Amazon as inspiration and models of action for us all.
We are especially excited to launch a new series on Ethics and Intersectionality with two volumes: Critical Race Theology by Juan Floyd-Thomas and Up Against a Crooked Gospel:
Black Women's Bodies and the Politics of Redemption (pp.20-21). Perry Schmidt-Leukel in The Celestial Web offers a highly original approach to comparative religion (p.25). From India, Joseph Parappally provides a new approach to Christology, Christ without Borders (p.22), while Brazilian Leonardo Boff, one of our most enduring authors, offers his own exploration of Jesus and His Abba (p.23). Finally, the latest in our Modern Spiritual Masters Series is Dorothy Day: Spiritual Writings. This is my sixth edition of Day's writings, one I believe that synthesizes her essential teaching and its meaning for today.
But there is so much more!
Come and see.
